Description
This is a nice sized piece of Black Pipestone. Some people also call this material steatite. This block would be suitable to several nice large ceremonial pipes out of. The piece could instead be used to make a couple of smaller personal pipes.
This piece measures app 6″ long at the bottom and is about 3-3/8″ tall. It is just a hair shy of being 1-3/4″ thick.
The black pipestone that we sell is very high quality stone. We’ve worked with a lot of this type of stone originating from many different areas. After years of testing out different sources, we’ve settled on this one. It’s some of the best black pipestone we’ve ever had the privilege to work with. It’s soft enough to easily work, but it’s hard enough that it will still hold great detail. After your pipe has been sanded, waxed, and polished, it will be a very nice dark black color.
