Description
This is a good-sized piece of Sacred Catlinite that would be suitable to make 1 nice sized effigy pipe out of…or several smaller personal effigy pipes.
I’ve wet down the one edge of it so you can see the nice color that you’ll find in this piece of stone.
This piece is app 6-1/4″ at its longest point, app 3-1/2″ tall and about 2″ thick on average. (The thickest part of this piece of stone is 2-1/2″!)
This stone was quarried by hand at the Pipestone National Monument.
It is the premier carving stone… It’s soft enough to easily work, but it’s hard enough that it will hold great detail.
This type of stone doesn’t often come up for sale, because people who quarry are also pipemakers and they generally save the great pipe material to use themselves.
