This is a super nice piece of Sacred Catlinite that would be suitable to make a couple of large effigy pipes out of, or a few ceremonial T pipes out of as well as a few smaller personal pipes.
This piece is app 7″ long, 6″ tall, and is a very uniform 1-5/8″ thick.
This stone was quarried by hand at the Pipestone National Monument.
It is the premier carving stone… It’s soft enough to easily work, but it’s hard enough that it will hold great detail.
This type of stone doesn’t often come up for sale, because people who quarry are also pipemakers and they generally save the pipe material to use themselves.
