Description
This is an exceptionally nice piece of Sacred Catlinite that would be suitable to make several nice ceremonial pipes out of and possibly additional smaller personal pipes.
This piece is kind of a triangular shape. It’s been cut on all sides but 1. It’s pretty much an 8″ x 8″ x 8″ triangle. It’s 1-1/4″ thick. This piece is going to be a nice dark red color through all of it. This stone was quarried by hand at the Pipestone National Monument.
It is the premier carving stone… It’s soft enough to easily work, but it’s hard enough that it will hold great detail.
This type of stone doesn’t often come up for sale, because people who quarry are also pipemakers and they generally save the pipe material to use themselves.
