Sacred Catlinite/Red Pipestone (App 9″ x 4-3/4″ x 1-1/2″)

This is a good-sized piece of Sacred Catlinite that would be suitable to make a couple nice sized effigy pipe out of…or several smaller personal effigy pipes.
This is a gorgeous piece of stone! It’s going to have a lot of very small spots or ‘stars’ in it.
This piece is app 9″ at its longest point, app 4-3/4″ tall and about 1-1/2″ thick on average.

This stone was quarried by hand at the Pipestone National Monument.
It is the premier carving stone… It’s soft enough to easily work, but it’s hard enough that it will hold great detail.
This type of stone doesn’t often come up for sale, because people who quarry are also pipemakers and they generally save the great pipe material to use themselves.
