Description
This is a nice small piece of Sacred Catlinite that would be suitable to make 1 or 2 ceremonial pipes out of, depending on how they are laid out.
This piece is app 4-1/2″ x 4″. It is app 1-1/4″ thick. An interesting thing to note on this piece of stone is that it has a ‘lifeline’ running through it. If you look closely at the photo’s you’ll see the white colored line in the stone. This isn’t something you see every day and is something that makes this piece of stone a little more desirable. This stone was quarried by hand at the Pipestone National Monument.
It is the premier carving stone. It’s soft enough to easily work, but it’s hard enough that it will hold great detail.
This type of stone doesn’t often come up for sale, because people who quarry are also pipemakers and they generally save the pipe material to use themselves.
